Action Brings Change: the Kickoff Weekend
Athletes in Action Inc. is delighted to share the remarkable moments from our Action Brings Change (ABC) Kickoff Weekend, held from December 15–17. ABC Kickoff Weekend served as a cornerstone event within our inaugural year's extensive activities.
The weekend commenced with a vibrant corporate mixer, Empower through Action, a pivotal element in our Year 1 portfolio. This event brought together stakeholders, potential donors, partners, athletes, and community members. Our directors, alongside Stanford Graduate and Major League Soccer (MLS) rising star Ousseni Bouda and Vincentian footballing luminary and mentor Ian Sardine, passionately conveyed our mission, fostering collaborations and generating invaluable support.
On Saturday, an electric atmosphere charged our fundraising football event, Champions of Change: AiA Community Shield, creating an unforgettable experience. At the heart of this event was our dynamic initiative, "Goal for a Cause: Fuel the Future." We invited sponsors to pledge support for specific types of goals, from awe-inspiring bicycle kicks to precision headers. The 30-goal thriller concluded with a remarkable 16–14 score. The resounding success of this initiative resulted in a significant amount of $4,947.00 XCD raised, earmarked for scholarships and educational opportunities.
Notably, the highest pledger for each goal type received a special honor. We proudly present the NIIFTF Inside the Box Goal, the Max Trucking Bicycle Kick Goal, the Roland Bowman Outside the Box Goal, the Benjamin Cyrus Volley Goal, the Diamond Café Direct Free Kick Goal, the Richard France Penalty Kick Goal, and the Aline Williams Header Goal. These personalized acknowledgments showcase our deep appreciation for the outstanding contributions that have fueled the dreams of young athletes and the success of our initiative.
The weekend culminated in a spiritual note with a heartfelt church service at HighPoint Church. Gratitude permeated the atmosphere as we extended our thanks to the community for their blessings, reaffirming our commitment to serving the youth of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
